Experimental measurements of the transfer function of a nonlinear optical loop mirror

Measurement of the average values input and output powers a device can give insight into transfer function (TF) that device, but this approach usually hides real impact certain propagation phenomena. However, to best our knowledge, measurements TF nonlinear optical loop mirrors (NOLMs) have always been carried out using approach, which may lead underestimating dispersive effects. Here, we present experimental measurement NOLM, made from intensity profiles frequency-resolved gating technique. Our clearly highlights dispersion effects Kerr nonlinearity on NOLM’s TF.
